CCR Action Group

Over the past few years, “transformation” has become the new buzzword replacing good, old, ordinary “change.” People use the two terms interchangeably, but to change is to substitute or replace something.
Transformation, on the other hand, is a complete change, usually into something with an improved appearance or usefulness.
CCR is transforming with the process of selecting the new Board of Management underway. The Board of Management will comprise 10 members; two representatives of the parents association, who will be elected in the next few weeks; three elected members of staff, including two teachers; and five trustee nominees. It is expected that the Board of Management will be finalised before Easter and will convene for the first time during Easter. Then the process of relaunching CCR truly begins.
A number of sub-committees will be created to assist in various aspects of school management: Finance, fund-raising, admissions, boarding, teaching and learning, student welfare, and extra-curricular activities (sport, music, etc.). The admissions sub-committee will focus on the key areas of marketing and enrolment. Some members of the CCR Action Group are expected to be asked to become members of the Board of Management and all members will take whatever part in the sub-committees they are requested to fulfill and look forward to being part of the driving force behind the new future for CCR.
The open day ‪on April 1st from 11am will launch the new range of boarding options and showcase all that is good about Cistercian College. It should be a great day of fun for all members of the family and we hope to get as many visitors through the gates as possible. We will also hold a number of open meetings over the coming weeks and months to discuss the future plans and answer any questions you may have.
There is a lunch in The County Arms Birr at 12.30 on Sunday the 2nd of April for Parents and any other supporters who would like to attend. Booking is essential with Shauna Walsh on (086) 814 0170. Cost is €35. The first meeting is scheduled to take place afterwards ‪at 4pm and all supporters are welcome.
We want to be as inclusive and open as possible and welcome any suggestions that you may have.
We hope that the new Board of Management and sub-committees get the same level of support the CCR Action Group has received over the last month. If we all work hard and in unison we can ensure that CCR thrives over the next 6 years and beyond.
Thanks for all of your support so far.
