Dublin Branch Golf Outing, Elm Park – August 2021

It’s great to be back!

On 13th August the Dublin Branch of the Cistercian College Union held the Union’s first event since before the pandemic in Elm Park Golf Club. The last outing was to have been the Dublin Dinner, scheduled for 20th March 2020 in the novel venue of the National Yacht Club, Dún Laoghaire before it, like thousands of other events, had to be cancelled as we faced the first wave of the pandemic. In an odd twist of fate CCR pastman Tim O’Brien who was then Manager of the National Yacht Club is now General Manager of Elm Park Golf and Sports Club – and let’s say he saw to it that we were looked after very well! A feature of this event was the number of young pastmen playing, including several from the Class of 2020. Kudos to Branch Committee member and MC for the evening Aonghus Cody. A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all – special mention to Michal O’Sullivan who as well as defending the Matt Hyland Cup he won in 2019 capped a wonderful day with an albatross, yes an amazing TWO at the par FIVE ninth hole!
