New gym for CCR College

Having witnessed a tremendous Leinster Senior Cup Win on St. Patrick’s Day the CCR Rugby Support Group in conjunction with the Hurling Support Group and Brendan McKeogh (surely the greatest Director of Sport in the country) decided to undertake a complete re-fit of the Gym in CCR. It was felt that the benefit of a new Gym would be enjoyed by every student in the College, not just those involved in team sports.

Happily we are glad to report that due to tremendous work by all parties, in particular Dave Culligan, Dorothy Keating and Paddy McKeon we have recently completed the fit-out to make it as good a Gym as there is in any school.

The project was financed by the Rugby and Hurling Groups and money raised from our very successful Dinner in May in the Clyde Hotel. We are delighted that we have been able to complete this project and would like to thank everybody who assisted and contributed, including all the Past Pupils and Sponsors. The feedback from the Students has been tremendous and it has given a great boost to the lads for this Season.

Thanks again to one and all, including the many pastmen who over these past 4 years have supported our annual Grand Slam Draw and the Hurling Support Group’s Golf Classic each July. As our funds have been well and truly spent (no expense was spared in making sure our teams were as well prepared as possible) the Rugby Support Group will be holding another Grand Slam Draw after Christmas to help fund the 2015-2016 campaign. Those who bought tickets for last year’s draw can rejoice that they contributed to a historic success – but that means we have to go again…we can’t stand still.

Details will be on the Union’s website www.ccrunion.org after Christmas, and if you’re on Pat Hanratty’s email list, you’re sure to get a reminder!

Michael Keane, Chairman, RSG.
