CCR RSG Draw results

Report by Pat Hanratty

The Grand Slam Draw took place in the Centenary room / Billiard Room last night.

I was asked to pull the ticket for the first prize, and lo and behold it was one I had sold to Paul Wrafter (Class of 1971), brother of Shaun, Niall (1965) and David (1967). Paul has been supporting this draw for years and usually buys two books of tickets. He is a former President of Tullamore Rugby Club.

One of the other prize winning tickets was sold by John Cody (Class of 1982) and the round of golf was won by Shauna Walsh, wife of Tim Meagher, Chair of the RSG.

There was a great atmosphere in the room with the Senior and Junior squads present to see all was above board.

It was, according to the organisers, the most successful draw of its kind, and the money will be well spent supporting Rugby in CCR. I was very happy to bring down over €2,600 – mainly from tickets sold to pastmen, and there was great appreciation and gratitude shown for the generosity of pastmen in supporting the draw.

I sent an email last week to pastmen I knew from the 1960s stating that there will be a Mass for Phil Guiney (House Captain 1963-’64) who died in Australia in early December, at 11.30 a.m.on Thursday in Star of the Sea Parish, Sandymount. Afterwards, Phil’s classmates and others will wend their way to Roly’s where Tom O’Connell is Events Manager and will have a special CCR room for a pre-match lunch. Unfortunately, that message bounced back from well over 100 addresses, so I’m mentioning it again. I don’t remember using any bad words that gmail would be trying to censor, but if this bounces back, I’m in trouble!

Again, wishing the seniors and all involved with them the very best on Thursday.

Up Ros!

Pat.
